Striding To Health
The Chi RopeThe Kinesthetic Method for Mind and Body Wellness

The way a person walks can reveal health issues from spinal problems and osteoarthritis to stroke and shorter life spans, medical experts say. An uneven gait is a symptom that the body is not working optimally, leading to pain, stress and fatigue, according to Dr. John Lombardozzi, a chiropractor and expert in functional health.

Dr. John L. Lombardozzi (SAY Lom-bar-doze-ee) developed The Chi Rope (SAY chee-rope), as a simple, easy-to-use instrument to help people correct these problems. A specially designed exercise handle that can be used with or without an interconnected jump rope, it can be used for walking, jumping rope or in conjunction with a daily regimen of movements to enhance the body's homeostasis (balance) and Chi (inner energy).

This patented kinesthetic method conditioner is the result of five years of research by Dr. Lombardozzi at his clinic and his lifelong passion for invention. At an early age, he learned to design and fabricate working in his dad's custom motorcycle shop. A lifelong athlete and sports enthusiast, he studied yoga, Pilates and martial arts while building custom motorcycles and racing equipment. After suffering a back injury, he became intrigued by chiropractic medicine. He returned to school to become a chiropractic physician specializing in kinesiology and biomechanical movement.

From his own experience and working with dozens of his patients, Dr. Lombardozzi discovered a pattern of musculoskeletal dysfunction in biomechanical movement. This problem, which manifests itself in an uneven gait, exhausts the body and magnifies other symptoms.

When the human body is healthy, there is a systematic rhythm to a person's gait. The opposing arm swings naturally forward when a step is taken by either the right or left foot. This involuntary movement is controlled by an autonomic nervous system with the entire body operating as a unified muscle mass in a tension/relaxation cycle.

But traumatic injury, sprain, or degradation due to aging can cause the autonomic nervous system to develop involuntary movement patterns during walking. An asynchronous gait produces torquing of one side of the body, making a formerly effortless movement labor intensive and resulting in accelerated wear and tear on the body, poor posture and pain.

Dr. Lombardozzi found that chiropractic adjustments alone would not correct this problem, nor would existing exercise and therapeutic applications. So he designed The Chi Rope System, a mechanical stimulation device and exercise system, to work with the body's natural rhythm of kinetic motion to "reset" patterns of dysfunction.

Patients who use the device four times daily have experienced relief from pain, restored balance and improved health and vitality through exercises that are simple, safe and strengthening.
